How to catch a mangrove mudcrab / kagang using a bamboo trap AT KPAF (Katunggan Permaculture Adventure Farm), Carcar, Cebu

bamboo tube with retractable bow and string

trap is inserted in holes and the crab enters through the opening on one end

the bow releases the flat arrow and the crab is trapped inside bamboo

if lucky, the kagang can be caught by hand

it will not surrender without a battle

hold the pincers properly

  1. in order for the Cagang to come out of its hole, you may need to pour a mud(silty/black). when it's filled with mud , cagang will find its way to the opening/entrance and come out , probably trying to get some oxygen..this is what we did in our place in Abilan, Buenavista, Caraga region.

    1. yes, we do care about our planet... we plant mangroves regularly right in front of our property, in fact, we have hosted numerous organizations and student groups who have planted mangroves at kpaf
