Bollywood Veggie, Kranji, Singapore

today, we travel to singapore.  just outside the city, there is a great place to learn about sustainability. it is called  bollywood veggie, an organic farm located in the kranji countryside. here you can see how vegetables are grown organically, and served fresh in their cafe. they also highlight a lot of sustainability solutions like: composting toilet, raised beds, water catchment system for the entire farm and environmental education.

when we visited the farm, there were  bus loads  of pre-school children (in their matching uniforms and hats) learning about the different herbs, fruits and vegetables and how these can be prepared as healthy meals.

these are the most basic things that kids need to have knowledge of because it will determine their attitude towards food and health. many children think of food as burgers, fries, fried chicken, junk food, soft drinks and other unhealthy food.

so, i salute the lim couple for their committment to nurturing bollywood veggie. when in singapore, do check out their farm. there is a bus that goes to the kranji center, but you will still need a taxi to get to their farm since it is an interior road. note that you must arrange for a taxi pick-up to return to your hotel.
