River trekking in Danao, Bohol

The Eco adventure park in Danao, Bohol is nestled between two mountains in which there is a river that runs through it. E.A.T. Danao is known for the zipline and the plunge. Most people go there for those two things only and stay about three hours the most.  A few stay longer and explore the natural bounty of the area. We did. We stayed two nights and three days. So, we asked for all the activities that the eco-park had to offer.

So, we did the river trekking. We thought, a river trek is too easy. While we were at the river course, yes it was easy, just navigating through sand and boulders. Most people do a loop and go back to where they started. We were crazy enough to say yes to the guide who asked if we wanted to climb the mountain back to the lodge. We were in for a big surprise. We had to climb through a dried up waterfall which could have easily turned out to be a"hikerfall". The hiking trail was not maintained at all because nobody was foolish enough to climb the trail. Of course, there are always people with underdeveloped frontal lobes, and yes we made a mistake. But, at least we learned the hardships that Dagohoy and his men went through during their rebellion. No wonder, he was very legendary...
