Spelunking in Danao, Bohol

What is spelunking? It is the recreational  practice of exploring caves, also known as caving. Well, it is really a fancy name for caving. It is an American term for caving. The British name for caving is potholing.

In the Philippines, there are thousands of caves. With eco-tourism gaining  local government support, many caves are now open for the public to explore, enjoy and conserve.

Danao, Bohol is synonymous with adrenaline sports- the plunge and the long zipline. However, I believe the greatest value of the area is its cave system. When we were in Danao, we explored a beginner's cave. It was a family event, with our youngest caver aged 10. I must say we learned many things about the cave ecosystem and had tons of challenging wet and wild fun.
